Who Are Your People?
Our team recently came back from an amazing ministry trip to North Carolina. We saw an awesome church, witnessed God do some amazing things, and ate some incredible BBQ. Pretty epic trip.
My favorite part was the connection with the pastor and associate pastor. We’ve been to this church before, they’ve been to the Spirit & Truth Conference - we are connected. It feels like we are visiting family.
And it made me think, this is important. It’s important to visit with like-minded people so that we can encourage each other in the walk of our vocation as well as our faith.
It is the writer of Hebrews who says, “Let us not give up meeting, as some are in the habit of doing, but spur one another on towards love and good deeds.”
I think what is important about this text is that the assumption is there that we will give up meeting. It is easier to not meet. It’s much easier to think we can do this thing on our own.
Yet - we all know that we need it.
We’ve all heard the cliches that following Jesus is a team sport. We can’t lead alone, and everything in between. Community is a requirement for the Kingdom of God.
So, as we prepare for the sprint towards the summer I just want to encourage you: Who are your people? And what are you doing to meet with them?
