Let's Talk About Your Calendar
I’m not going to pretend to be the pious blogger who thinks you should stop doing all the things.
I haven’t found a way to make that work. Actually, too much space on my calendar makes me more nervous than when I juggling everything.
Instead, I want to challenge you with a simple thought this morning:
Are you allowing Jesus to speak into your calendar?
I don’t want you to cut things out, instead, add the Lord in.
Paul talks about this in Ephesians -
Ephesians 5:15-20
15 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. 18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, 20 always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Notice the arch in the text - make the most of every day, and understand the will of the Lord.
And then Paul immediately goes into coping skills when you do feel overwhelmed…. some choose wine (or Amazon), while Paul challenges us to “be filled with the Spirit.”
As a type-A personality, who loves people, who loves doing “stuff” I haven’t figured out how to stop that part of who I am.
Instead, I am trying to follow Paul’s words - be wise, make the most of every opportunity, and (most importantly) follow the will of the Lord.
If the Spirit prompted you to clear your calendar would you do it?
